Discover Fort Collins on an eBike Tour

Pete Averson

Fort Collins is one of Colorado's best-kept secrets — a vibrant, walkable city nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a thriving craft beer scene, a prestigious university, and some of the most beautiful parks and trails you'll find anywhere in the state. And there's no better way to experience it all than on a guided eBike tour with Ride Colorado.

Why Fort Collins?

While visitors flock to Boulder and Denver, Fort Collins quietly offers everything those cities have — plus a laid-back, small-town charm that makes you feel like you're in on a secret. The city consistently ranks among the happiest and most livable places in America, and once you spend a few hours cruising its tree-lined streets on an eBike, you'll understand why.

Old Town Fort Collins

Our tour begins in the heart of Old Town, Fort Collins' historic downtown district. If the charming storefronts and Victorian architecture look familiar, there's a good reason — Old Town Fort Collins was the inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland. Walt Disney reportedly visited the town in the 1950s and was so enchanted by its character that he used it as a model for his theme park's iconic entrance.

Your guide will lead you past beautifully restored buildings dating back to the 1880s, independent bookshops, art galleries, and some of the best farm-to-table restaurants in Northern Colorado. Old Town is a place where history and modern culture blend seamlessly, and it sets the perfect tone for the rest of the tour.

Colorado State University

From Old Town, we cruise south to the Colorado State University campus. Founded in 1870, CSU is one of the nation's leading research universities, and its campus is genuinely beautiful. We'll ride past The Oval — the historic heart of campus lined with towering American elm trees — and your guide will share the university's fascinating history, from its origins as an agricultural college to its current status as a leader in veterinary science, environmental research, and engineering.

The campus architecture is a mix of stately historic buildings and modern facilities, and the landscaping is immaculate year-round. It's a lovely stretch of the ride, especially in autumn when the elms turn gold.

City Park

Next, we make our way to City Park, Fort Collins' crown jewel green space. This 167-acre park features a beautiful lake, mature shade trees, picnic areas, and walking paths. We'll stop at Sheldon Lake for photos — on a clear day, the reflection of the mountains in the water is absolutely stunning.

City Park is also home to the Fort Collins city pool (one of the largest outdoor pools in the state) and a miniature train that has been delighting families since 1959. Your guide will share the park's history and point out some of its hidden features.

Fort Collins Museum of Art

We'll ride past the Fort Collins Museum of Art, a small but impressive gallery that showcases rotating exhibitions of contemporary art from regional and national artists. Your guide will point out some of the public art installations throughout the city — Fort Collins has an impressive collection of sculptures, murals, and interactive art pieces scattered through its downtown and parks.

The Avery House

One of the highlights of the tour is a stop at the Avery House, a beautifully preserved Victorian home built in 1879. This sandstone residence was the home of Franklin Avery, one of Fort Collins' founding citizens who helped survey and plan the city's layout. The house is now a museum operated by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation and offers a fascinating window into life in early Colorado.

Craft Beer Capital of Colorado

No tour of Fort Collins would be complete without acknowledging its status as the craft beer capital of Colorado — and arguably the entire country. The city is home to more than 20 craft breweries, including New Belgium Brewing (creators of Fat Tire), Odell Brewing Company, and Horse & Dragon Brewing.

While we don't include official brewery stops on the tour (save that for after!), your guide will point out several breweries along our route and share the story of how Fort Collins became a global destination for beer lovers. The combination of clean mountain water, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a community that truly supports local business created the perfect environment for the craft beer revolution.
